Black and white portrait of a young man with dark hair, multiple earrings, wearing rings and a necklace, with a contemplative expression and hand near his chin.

who the hell is Tomer dery?

I left my homeland in 2022 looking for a massive change. I was working myself to death in kitchens and I needed a fresh start.

Before I left, my father handed me his camera. At first, it was just a way to document things and stay connected with the people I care about. but since my light meter was broken on my first camera, I had to learn how to do everything manually, and that’s when I fell in love with light.

For the past four years, I’ve been photographing Australia - its people, landscapes, events, and creative work. Along the way, I’ve worked with a lot of talented individuals and slowly developed a style that incorporates movement, unconventional lighting and experimentation.

I don’t believe in golden hour. light exist at all times, and that’s what led me to create some of my best work.

Photographing people is where I found my deepest passion. It’s what I enjoy most, what I’m best at, and the part of photography that keeps me curious. It’s not about perfection - it’s about uniqueness. anyone has a story that deserves attention.

Photography is not just what I do.

it’s my comfort, my creative outlet, and the way I make sense of the world.
